Kopališče Kolezija at Gunduličeva 7 in Ljubljana, which was last renovated in the 70s of the last century before its present-day modern appearance, has come back to life these days.
The oldest organized municipal swimming pool in Ljubljana, College, reopens its doors with a refreshed image. The swimming pool renovation project, for which the architects from the Ravnikar Potokar architectural office are responsible, included the revitalization of the outdated and time-worn Kolezija swimming pool into a modern swimming pool that will enable activities for both recreational swimmers, competitors and tourists.
The construction of the renovated swimming pool began in 2014 and was completed in July 2015. The Kolezija swimming pool was built on the site of the former swimming pool. The building is designed on one level and includes the ground floor and one basement floor. The outdoor pool complex includes an Olympic and children's pool, a splash pad, a massage pool and a poolside platform with wooden deckchairs. There are also sports and recreation areas with table tennis tables, a basketball court and a beach volleyball court. The swimming pool is free of architectural barriers, which allowed the contractors to make it more accessible for the physically challenged and achieve a beautiful appearance of the swimming pool, which is perfect for a relaxing break in the urban jungle.
