Huawei is once again organizing a photo contest Next-Image 2022, which this year takes place under the slogan "inspire the world". Designed to attract the next generation of photography enthusiasts and encourage the creation of quality masterpieces full of youth, warmth, energy and optimism, the deadline for entries to the competition is November 15 at midnight Beijing Standard Time (GMT +8).

Huawei Photo Contest Next-Image considered by far the largest in the world, it serves as a platform for conversations about mobile photography, smartphone camera photography experiences and new forms of expression. Since 2017, when it was organized for the first time, participants have registered more than 3.62 million works.

Compared to last year's competition, there are five new categories, two of which are from photography (Art and Fashion, Sports) and three from the video field (Action and Storytelling – long or short film). In addition to the usual prizes, the winners will also be able to cooperate with partner media and receive invitations to events where they will upgrade their photography experience.

The submitted works will be evaluated by a jury of five professional judges. Editorial Director of ELLE China Nicole Xue, Italian photographer and artist Federico Ciamei, a Romanian photographer Mihaela Noroc, vice president of the Nanjing University of Communication of China and the Photographers Association of China Chen Xiaobo and Vice President of Consumer Marketing Strategy at Huawei, Li Changzhu. Together, they form a team of photography professionals with diverse backgrounds and experiences who will review, discuss and select the final winners.

8 categories to show the beauty of the moment and tell stories

ART & FASHION

Art and fashion are the ultimate form of self-expression. Capture a moment that inspires you.

OUTDOOR

Open the front door and look around, inspiration can be found everywhere. Capture what the outdoors means to you.

PORTRAIT

A portrait can speak a thousand words. Capture the truth of your portrait.

SPORTS

Sports combine action with emotion. Capture a sports moment that excites you.

LIFE

An exciting, surprising or emotional moment from everyday life. Capture a slice of life from the world around you.

PHOTO STORY

A series of 3 to 9 photos that tell a story or present a moment through different perspectives. Capture the journey of your subject or subject.

ACTION

When you're in the middle of the action, your heart can beat faster. Capture the moment of action that moved you.

STORYTELLING

Each story has a character that people will love, hate, support, or fear. Tell a story and inspire the world. Short film: 5 minutes or less. Feature film: 5 – 30 minutes.

Each of the eight categories is tailored to a unique photography mode in which they excel, challenging users to elegantly capture emotion and express creativity.

The award categories highlight the outstanding capabilities of Huawei smartphones as recently introduced Huawei Mate 50 Pro, Huawei nova 10 and Huawei nova 10 Pro. The Mate 50 Pro is equipped with a premium Ultra Aperture camera with a 50 MP sensor and is also the world's first phone with a flexible 10-stop aperture, while the Huawei nova 10 and Huawei nova 10 Pro feature a 60 MP front camera sensor.
The phone's ultra-wide f/1.4 aperture Mate 50 Pro combined with XD Fusion Pro technology and high sensitivity to light, it ensures adequate brightness and details in bright and shadow areas of the photo. Intelligent aperture adjustment also ensures that the light capture in automatic mode is in harmony with the scene and shooting scenario, while in manual mode you have the option of adjusting the depth of field or the level of background blur. Thanks to this, you can easily take outstanding portraits with perfect skin tones, texture and just-right blurred background, charming and vivid landscapes, beautiful close-up (macro) photos with a sharp foreground and naturally blurred background, and thanks to the advanced night mode, excellent photos even in pitch darkness.

Rich prize pool

By participating in the photography contest, participants will have the opportunity to win great prizes. The expert jury will choose 3 main prize winners, 24 category winners and 27 runners-up from all the submitted masterpieces. A rich prize fund is prepared for them.

  • Grand Prize Winners receive the Next-Image fund for creating value 10,000 USD and an electronic prize receipt.
  • Category winners receive Next-Image funding to create 1,500 USD and an electronic prize receipt.
  • Runners-up they receive a smartphone Huawei P50 Pro and an electronic prize receipt.
  • In addition, the said smartphone will be given to an artist whose work she will determine as the best the Huawei user community.
