The collection of lighting objects from the hands of the young, multiple award-winning designer plays with the issue of copyright. The author was led to this problem by a conversation with Aleksandra Domanović, who dealt with questions of authorship in her project. The basic question during the creation of rectangular lights was who could be copied without the question of copyright. The answer is the A3-sized rectangles, which, according to the author, represent portable photocopiers, as copying occurs again and again every time the light is turned on and off. With the technique of applying a photograph to Plexiglas, similar to projection onto canvas, forms appear before us that do not require copyright to be used. According to the author, these are his friends and nature. The shapes through which the light penetrates are a woman's body and jewelry made of artificial resin. Such lights are not only intended to illuminate the rooms in which they are located, but are primarily an aesthetic object to brighten up many homes or to contribute to creativity in the work environment. Even the shape of the lamp, a cube, one surface of which transmits light and projects or photocopies the play of shapes with light and shadow into its surroundings, is more reminiscent of a product that we have not only because of its practicality and use, but also because of its artistic value. It is about applying art to everyday life and finding new forms of tools for everyday use. The unique lights were created as part of the presentation of the autumn-winter 08/09 jewelry project, which was presented as part of Designparcus in Munich. In Slovenia, they can only be found in Squat in Ljubljana. • Squat, Križevniška 7, Ljubljana www.jurepurgaj.com
