The Hobbit is a trilogy, but it tells the story of one novel by JRR Tolkien. Therefore, director Peter Jackson is to be congratulated for turning one story into three chapters that are not only narratively compact and epic, but also self-contained. There is only the last chapter ahead of us, the Battle of the Five Armies, which sends all the famous heroes into the fire for the last time, led by the hobbit Bilbo, the fearless Thorin and the wizard Gandalf.
