Thermal cameras were once the domain of law enforcement and the military, but today they are available to anyone with a smartphone and an accessory for a few hundred euros. The leading manufacturer of construction and mining machinery, which entered the world of mobile phones in 2013 with the Cat B15 model, is the first to offer a thermal imaging camera already built into the phone. It is a Flir One camera, which started its journey into the world of mobile telephony as a cover for the iPhone 5.

Bendable screens have been heralding their arrival for several years. More and more companies are getting involved in the fight, with Samsung and LG showing the most so far. Researchers at Queen's University Belfast believe in the utility of a foldable and bendable screen, and have translated their idea into the Reflex smartphone with a bendable OLED screen.
