Google Ara: The first modular phone is coming next year

Google's Project Ara modular smartphone

Google's Project Ara shook up the world of mobile phones a year ago. Although Google has encountered quite a few unexpected technical problems in the meantime, a modular phone in which the user can change individual components, such as the camera or the processor, is now becoming a reality. Google predicts that it will be on the shelves at the beginning of 2017, and already in the fall the first versions will be in the hands of the chosen ones (read: module developers).

Project Ara it's from google modular smartphone, which at first seemed too perfect to be true. At the recent developer conference I/O 2016, Google let it be known that Project Ara is "alive and well", that despite the problems it did not throw the gun in the corn, on the contrary, it announced its imminent arrival on the market. Google says Project Ara isn't so much a smartphone as it is a new way to use and buy a smartphone. Enables arbitrary addition of components and adaptation to individual wishes.

We know we're repeating ourselves like a parrot, but Ara represents an important milestone in mobile technology.

It has everything that smartphones have. Frame with screen and vital components (processor, memory, speakers, camera...). What sets it apart from the rest of the competition are endoskeleton and modules called endo (individual components that are attached to the endoskeleton), which enable the emergence of newer or better technologies or individual component failures no need to change the whole phone anymore, but only individual components that we want to upgrade or replace due to a malfunction. With this, we remove only the "tilted" part of the apple, but keep the good part.

The modular smartphone will initially support six modules, which will connect to the phone simply like a lego to a lego. In the dedicated application, it will only be necessary to select the module that will be replaced, and it will automatically "retire", and in doing so, it will help him digital assistant. The range of components will be wide, and their prices should be pocket-friendly for the user. You will be able to choose between Google's and those of independent brands.
