At the prestigious gathering of rare and antique cars and automotive novelties Concours d'Elegance Pebble Beach in the USA, BMW turned back the clock and with its new version of the BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage R concept paid tribute to the Bavarian beginnings on American soil, where in 1975 they opened their first branch outside Europe BMW North America. Hence the similarities with the legendary BMW 3.0 CSL model, which also served as inspiration for the aforementioned concept, which debuted in the American IMSA racing series that same year.
Model BMW 3.0 CSL has a special place in the hearts of Bavarians, as it is a model that is on American soil in 1975 broke the ice and firmly anchored the brand name beyond the pond and, like the English, never left. The concept BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage R is a refined version of the concept BMW 3.0 CSL Homage, which debuted at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este on Lake Como in Italy. Although the newcomer will never achieve the success of his "great-grandfather" (at least not from a competitive point of view) - he "came, saw and won", namely he won a race in the IMSA series 12 Hours of Sebring only a few weeks after its establishment BMW North America and he quickly added many others to it (he also won the factory championship), including on the racetrack Laguna Seca, which lies just a stone's throw away Pebble Beach– but he is no less desirable.
The Germans exchanged the yellow from Italy for the original BMW Motorsport colors (red, blue, white), which also adorned its predecessor and added the number 25. The BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage R further blurs the line between driver and machine, as they are in the same color in cooperation they also dressed the driver with Puma, and in imitation of the past, they even went so far as to add to the windshield, the rear window and the visor (which serves as a head-up display) Bavarian Motor Works sticker.

While the exterior of the BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage R concept adorns complexity, the interior gives focus on functionality, so the Germans resorted to minimalism. Nevertheless, this one also wears the soul of the past, as the glowing inscription on the part of the dashboard, which is made of wood, reminds of May's victory in Laguna Seca 40 years ago. What a car it is "driver-centric", because it is, after all, a road racer. How much guts or technology from the concept will end up in BMWs in the future commercial models but for now she remains unknown.
