People enjoy movies because they often reinforce the events of our lives, but Richard Linklater's ambitious film "Boyhood" takes us to the extraordinary place of a boy's upbringing.
The film takes us into the life of young Mason (played by Ellar Coltrane), which we see grow up before our eyes throughout the 12-year story.
Linklater began the film in 2002 by shooting a few weeks of story each year and as many as 12 years. But he wanted to make the film in such a way that we would see the growing up of a young boy and his relationship with his parents (played by Patricia Arquette and Ethan Hawke), from Mason's first grade all the way through his twelfth grade, ending with going off to college.
Because children change so quickly throughout life, the director was willing to adapt his story to whatever Mason would experience. The unique 12-year-old story thus went down in film history, as it completely changed the way of filming up to now.
The film has already received numerous awards, including award for best director at this year's International Film Festival in Berlin and continues to experience global fame.
