At CES 2016, Kia unveiled its Drive Wise vehicle sub-brand, which will be in charge of self-driving cars. The Koreans are expected to send the first one to the roads in 2030, even earlier they promise cars capable of partially automatic driving, which should be ready before 2020.
Kia is at the consumer electronics fair CES 206 looked 15 years into the future and sub-brand Drive Wise announced fully self-driving cars by 2030. Kia has already rolled up its sleeves and along with already known assistants such as automatic braking at low speeds, autonomous parking and smart cruise control, prepares four technological pillars. These are HAD (Highway Autonomous Driving or autonomous driving on the highway), UAD (Urband Autonomous Driving or autonomous driving in an urban environment), PFV (Preceding Vehicle Following or following the vehicle in front) and AVP (Autonomous Valet Parking or fully automatic parking without a driver in the vehicle).

Kia plans to invest in the development of autonomous driving by 2018 two billion US dollars, and the emphasis will be on the communication system V2X (Vehicle to Everything), which will use sensors, radars and cameras for ensuring safe driving. Kia's cars of the future can also hope for touch-sensitive surfaces, fingerprint recognition system, which will activate some personal settings of the passenger cabin (ambient lighting, temperature, music, etc.) and gesture control.
