Street artist and photographer JR has embarked on a project in Paris that is not only interesting, but also aesthetically inspiring. At a height of 56 meters, he photographed black and white dancers on the roof of the Opera Garnier.
Jr is a Frenchman whose identity is unknown, yet he is one of the the world's most famous street artists and photographers. The artist, for whom the streets are the largest gallery in the world, began his artistic expression in his teenage years by drawing graffiti on the streets of Paris. When one day he found a camera in the Paris metro, he and his friends began to take photos of their graffiti and stick copies of the photos on the walls of Parisian buildings. His work soon began to receive more and more attention, and so it did for years In 2010, he even received the TED Prize – an award given annually to one exceptional individual from the TED community along with $100,000.

This year, JR has already made a mark in Paris with his high-profile project. In the recently renovated to the Pantheon namely, he set up an art installation on thousands and thousands of black and white portraits of people from more than a hundred different countries, who together formed a beautiful human mosaic both inside and on the facade of this architectural landmark. His latest project, however, rises to the heights: on the 56 meter high roof of the most famous of the Paris Opera Garnier he painted forty dancers dressed in black and white.
