Today in London, the premiere of Jaguar's new model - XE, was held, with which they intend to return to the D-segment through the big doors and give the German "holy" trinity a little sleep. Prices will range from around 33,500 to 75,000 euros. It will hit the roads at the beginning of next year, and a station wagon version will also be announced later.
After the failed X-type attempt, the XE marks Jaguar's return to the D-segment of sports sedans, which has been dominated by the German "holy" trio for many years. The new Englishman should surpass this both in terms of technical and technological aspects, and last but not least, also in terms of price.
It is placed on a new platform called X760, the drive will basically be sent to the rear wheel pair, and four-wheel drive will also be available for an additional fee. In addition to the sporty exterior, the designers also placed great emphasis on aerodynamics, so that drag coefficient it's worth everything 0,26. Rims will measure from 17 to 20 inches, volume trunk will amount to 485 liters.
It will enter the showrooms at the beginning of next year, and a little later the station wagon version will also hit the roads, and there is also a lot of talk about the coupe and convertible versions.
The range of engines will include two 2.0-liter gasoline four-cylinders and 2.0 liter diesel engine with 120 kW and 380 Nm of torque, the average consumption of which will be only 3.8 liters, which means 99 grams emissions CO2 per km. In addition, another more powerful version of the latter unit will be available, but they have not yet announced how much power and torque it will develop. For the XE, Jaguar has also prepared a completely new one six-speed automatic transmission and renovated eight-speed ZF (also automatic) transmission.
An even sportier version will also be available XE-S, which will drive it 3.0 liter V6 petrol engine, which will develop 250 kW or 340 hp and 450 Nm of torque, with which the XE-S will accelerate up to a hundred in 4.9 seconds.
But the British do not intend to stop there, as they will offer customers another version a little later XE SVR, which will represent competitor M3, which will hide under the hood 5.0 liter V8 aggregate with 360 kW or 489 hp namely, the first examples should be seen on the roads about a year after the arrival of the XE on the markets. Acceleration The XE SVR (from 0 – 100 km/h) should take approx four seconds, and the maximum speed will be electronically limited to 250 km/h. In addition to a more powerful engine, it will also get an aero body kit, more powerful brake and exhaust system, sports suspension, LSD differential lock, larger wheels and an even sportier interior. The British media write about the price of around 60 thousand pounds, which is around 75 thousand euros.
New in XE will also present infotainment system In Control with an eight-inch touch screen, the ASPC system or all surface progress control, which will offer four options for setting many vehicle parameters: dynamic, normal, eco and winter, and last but not least head-up projection.
