Anyone who has at least a little love for ice cream and has already wandered around Portugal knows Santini ice cream. Some say it's the best ice cream in the world, that it's a frozen gift from the gods.
It sure is Santini's ice cream one of the oldest, delighting fans for 65 years. It all started with a small ice cream shop in Praia do Tamariz in 1949. Attilio Santini, who immigrated to Portugal from Italy, started serving handmade ice cream here, using only the best ingredients. He served this delicacy to the Portuguese who were leaving for the beach. Today Santini ice cream shops are located in Cascais, v Lisbon (Chiado), v to Carcavelos and in the place São João do Estoril. They are recognizable by their red, white and striped image and equipment that inspires joy. The ice cream remains the same as it was sixty-five years ago, 100 % natural, made according to the same recipe, the ingredients remain fresh and there is no room for artificial additives. Lines in front of the shop are more the rule than the exception at Santini, at least on hot summer days. But it's worth it.
