Peugeot Fractal – the urban electric coupe takes you to sound heaven

At Peugeot, they asked themselves what the two-door car of the future will be and their vision is the Peugeot Fractal, an urban electric coupe concept with a sliding roof and a 2 + 2 seating arrangement (that is, without the back bench). It is a study that upgrades the i-Cockpit driving environment, which came to life in the SR1 study in 2010 and emphasizes sound sensations, while at the same time introducing a special soundscape with which to warn pedestrians and cyclists, as it is practically inaudible due to the electric motor.

Peugeot Fractal is a study urban electric coupe shod in 19-inch wheels and short premises (0.52 meters), which makes the car extremely agile and as such ideal for city streets. You can brag with adjustable air suspension (rising from 7 to 11 centimeters from the ground), and drives it a pair of 75 kW electric motors (one on each axle) with a total power of 150 kW or 204 horses, while for 450-kilometer range takes care of 40 kWh lithium-ion battery. Most of the parts inside it are made with help 3D printers (80 percent of linings), but more than this fact is worth emphasizing i-Cockpit system, which has undergone many improvements (we could taste it for the first time in the serial model 208 of 2012).


For even greater instinctive use now it also stimulates hearing, not just sight (an instrument panel at eye level takes care of this sense) and touch (touch screen, steering wheel with two touch panels). StelLabovci (StelLab is a research unit of a French concern PSA Peugeot Citroën) they equipped it with surround sound system 9.1.2, which consists of a trio of tweeters, a woofer, a pair of tweeters and bass drivers located in the back of the seat and thus have an additional impact on passengers and the driver through the innovatively treated acoustics. He took care of the sound experience sound designer Amon Tobin.

Inside the Peugeot Fractal we find more 7.7-inch AMOLED screen and projective or you "Head Up" screen with holographic image. From 0 to 100 km/h it takes a decent amount 6.8 seconds, and covers the kilometer distance in 28.8 seconds. Because the car is due to the electric motor quiet as a mouse, the sound is "artificial" and varies depending on whether the car is accelerating, braking or driving at a constant speed. The Peugeot Fractal borrowed some moves from digital racing car from the computer game GTA 6, and yes, you can use your smartwatch to open its doors. It will be presented to the public for the first time at the upcoming at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
