Sand is not a classic hourglass. Namely, it does not consist of a stand and a "pinched" bottle, but a clock in the form of a wall clock, which tells the time by drawing wavy hypnotic patterns of parallel lines with the help of a rake/pointer in the sand, as if a tractor were plowing a field. It is inspired by Zen gardens and is just as calming as raking sand and admiring such a garden.
Hourglass Sand, made by a London-based design couple, to twins Bike and Begum Ayaskan, writes out time by making furrows in the sand – like raking in Zen's garden. It is inspired by Zen gardening, this ancient activity with which you can we release stress, as it brings a feeling of peace and tranquility in the mind.

Although observing the passage of time, which nowadays seems to run too fast due to the pace demanded by modern life, seems to be at odds with this philosophy, the hourglass Sand soothing like nothing else. Observing the pointer that it writes out time like a rake (only an hour), it is also extremely therapeutic. Just don't try to stand the watch upright, because you will lose your temper when the sand scatters on the floor.
