By the time you click to get to the gallery, the McLaren P1 has already reached a speed well over 100km/h. The supercar, which sits alongside the Bugatti Veyron, was launched in October 2013 and in less than a month, all 375 models were sold out. The initial price was around one million euros.
McLaren P1 uses hybrid power and technology Formula 1. It is the heart and soul of the car hybrid twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine. In combination with an electric motor, it creates 916 horsepower and thus provide incredible statistics. With the system IPAS (Instant Power Assist System) reaches a speed of 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 6.8 seconds and 0-300 km/h in 16.5 seconds. The McLaren P1's top speed is electronically limited to 350 km/h.
Such as McLaren F1, first introduced in 1992, the P1 also has rear-wheel drive and an engine centered in the middle of the entire car, helping to distribute weight better on the road. For safety, it has a cage structure and a roof made of carbon fiber, called MonoCage, which was already developed for the MP4-12C and MP4-12C Spider models from 2012.
The McLaren P1 is already on its way to achieving status icons, as it won the category of super sports cars for Sunday Times - Top 100 Cars and received high praise even from the harshest critics. It is during testing at Spa Francorchamps in Belgium Jeremy Clarkson for Top Gear said: "We believe the McLaren P1 is the most exciting, capable and technologically advanced supercar ever made".
