TAG Heuer Connected: The first smart watch with tradition!

Tag Heuer Connected

Are smartwatches the future or a fad? The balance is leaning towards the first option, as traditional watch providers are also entering the smart watch market. One of the first is the Swiss watch giant TAG Heuer, which together with Google and Intel presented its first TAG Heuer Connected smartwatch. At first glance, this is a mirror image of the TAG Heuer Carrera wristwatch, but in reality it is a powerful computer. And if the CEO of TAG Heuer says that traditional mechanical watches are a thing of the past because they have no added value for younger users, smart watches are here to stay.

TAG Heuer Connected is the first smart watch manufacturer of Swiss avant-garde watches TAG Heuer. He is with her famous watch brand adjusted its goals. Namely, in the future, the wearers of classic wristwatches will only be elderly, and long-term survival can only be guaranteed by the appeal of young people. Until now, smartwatch makers have mostly been tech and young companies, and TAG Heuer is the first old dog to learn new tricks. For help, they ran across the pond to Silicon Valley, where they are in partnership with Google and Intel prepared the aforementioned TAG Heuer Connected smartwatch.

TAG Heuer is to blame for the design (the case is made of feather titanium alloys, which is more resistant than aluminum and plastic), while Intel contributed the processor Atom Z34XX. They also installed it 4 GB of RAM memory, which is otherwise found in mid-range entry-level laptops. Google contributed the collection Watches Faces and it is to blame that the watch reflects the appearance of classic watches, but in reality it is "merely" a digital replica of them. Google also resigned from "uni-sex" the Android Wear operating system, which in practice means compatibility with both Android (version 4.3 and up) as iOS (iOSD 8.2 and later) smart devices. With this, the Swiss have widened the pool of potential buyers, who, with the (calculated) price 1400 euros at the same time considerably narrowed.

The battery of the TAG Heuer Connected smartwatch, which boasts a diameter of 46 millimeters, should provide 40 hours of autonomy and will be available with seven bands different colors (partly also made of titanium alloy). The days when we could keep and wear wristwatches for decades are clearly over, as even classic watch manufacturers are increasingly leaning towards smart watches, which are no longer a timeless piece, but a piece of technology. But we know that it is old as soon as we step out of the store or press the button for online purchase.
