In the 90s, photographer Steve Eichner documented the raucous club scene and nightlife in New York. He was the house photographer of Peter Gatien, a man who is considered the 'king of New York clubs' and who himself owned the most notorious ones, such as Limelight, Club USA, Palladium and Tunnel. Steve had unique access to the hottest parties in the clubs. See how celebrities partied in the 90s.
Photographer Steve Eichner is for BuzzFeed News told how deep in him the hottest parties in New York in the 90s were anchored: "After graduation, I moved to Manhattan, and through music I also got into the night scene. She attracted me like a magnet. There was so much color, so much excitement and energy - it was very quick and easy to get close to the scene and document every night an explosion of decadence. Transvestites and sexy people partied without rules. It was also a great opportunity for networking and slowly I knew everyone in New York. You could see anything you could imagine: from drug use to sex. People had fewer brakes. It was really enjoyable then. No one was taking selfies or pretended to be something he wasn't. New York was not as expensive as it is today, and everyone was partying together - from celebrities to bankers, artists, musicians, poets and transvestites. The fun never ended.“
