Every year on December 1st, we celebrate World AIDS Day, which was first declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1988. This year it is held under the slogan of the global campaign Against Zero - zero new infections, zero discrimination, zero deaths from AIDS. This year marks, among other things, 30 years since the first detected HIV infections in Slovenia.
Worldwide, the number of people living with HIV increases, also in Slovenia, where there is still less than one HIV-positive person per thousand inhabitants. National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) has listed 726 HIV infections in the last 30 years. In the last decade, 112 people contracted AIDS and 23 died.
This year is passing 30 years since the first detected HIV infections in Slovenia. It will be the main event round table on World AIDS Day, December 1, in the City Museum of Ljubljana. It will be intended to review the path traveled together with pioneers and current experts from various fields of treatment of this infection, disease and phenomenon of HIV/AIDS.

On Prešeren square medical students will answer our questions throughout the day related to sexually transmitted infections, protection against them and discrimination. They will distribute bows, condoms, and they will also be available postcards, which we will be able to list and send to our friends, thus helping to spread awareness about the HIV virus.
At 6 p.m., well-known Slovenian stand-up comedians will also express their support Jernej Celec, Vid Valič, Tin Vodopivec, Boštjan Gorenc – Pajamas and Ales Novak with a performance Stand-Up Against Aids!
