The Stroj collective, which released the album Metafonik on the label MKC Maribor at the end of last year, returns to the Dance Forum Celje with a concert on October 24.
Music collective The Machine was formed by a percussionist and philosopher in 1997 in Laško Primož Oberžan, in order to realize the vision of an independent percussion collective that would express its creative drive through the sound Machine from waste and found material. Their bold and uncompromising creative approach attracted the attention of the wider Slovenian public overnight.
With the album Metaphonic The Stroj continue their sound explorations, the direction of which they outlined already in 2000 on their debut album Ventilator. During the long recording process, the members of the collective radically updated their instrumentation and percussion upgraded with original electromechanical and electronic instruments, who added a new, retro futuristic dimension to their tribal industrial sound.

Primož Oberžan, the leader of the collective, described the creative period, which is rounded off with the mentioned album, as follows: "In the age of increasingly smart phones, which coincides with the neoliberal dismantling of the school system, we are interested in the critical use of technology that is not subject to the ideology of efficiency and progress at any cost. We use instruments and machines as machines to produce meaning through collective ritual. We are developing a musical language with which we urge the audience to join the rhythm of the rebellion against the general commercialization of our lives. That's why we recorded Metafonik: high-voltage, low-frequency, rusty-sharp, rough-sanded, resonantly plated, electro-mechanically sublime, hypnotic noise into the guts and neocortex.”
