Fashion in motion: A fashion retrospective at the Slovenian Ethnographic Museum

A look at the Fashion in Motion exhibition

Between June 16 and November 8, 2015, in the Slovenian Ethnographic Museum, we will be able to see an interdisciplinary exhibition on Italian style between 1951 and 1990, which will be complemented by glimpses of Slovenian fashion.

A wonderful exhibition Fashion in motion takes a look at Italian fashion, at the birth of Italian style in the fifties to the nineties of the 20th century. At the same time, it looks back in glimpses into the past of Slovenian clothing culture, its historical cultural background and the development path of Slovenian fashion.

The central part of the exhibition is a vortex Italian fashion creations, fashion photos Federica Garolle and videos about Italian style 1951 - 1990, is a show about the meeting of Italian fashion with the world of sweet life, "la dolce vita", which flourished in Italy in the 50s and 60s of the 20th century and became the recognizable style of "Made in Italy ” continues to this day. Italian Style 1951-1990 depicts the culture of Italy at a time of its extraordinary creativity through the discourse on fashion. It presents a collection of women's haute couture evening dresses and "prêt-à-porter" clothes from twenty leading Italian designers, prestigious ateliers and fashion houses from the extensive fashion collection owned by the Sartirana Arte Foundation, supplemented by four other dresses. They were created by designers Sorelle Fontana, Emilio Schuberth, Roberto Capucci, Valentino, Irene Galitzine, Emilio Pucci and many others, who stamped the identity of Italian fashion and thus contributed to the image of Italy in the world.

The second part of the exhibition – Glimpses Slovenian fashion – are archival images on film and video with scenes of the culture of dressing in our country and reflections fashion in a feature Slovenian film, which revive almost forgotten times. The creations of internationally renowned artists will be exhibited of Slovenian contemporary fashion designers - Mateje Benedetti, Urške Drofenik, Maje Ferme, Maje Štamol and Svetlana Visintin - revive the transition from the past to the present.

The grand opening of the exhibition will take place on Tuesday, June 16, at 7:00 p.m in the Slovenian Ethnographic Museum.
