The play Stari Klovni will premiere on November 16, 2016, on the big stage at SNG Nova Gorica. The drama, written by the Romanian author Matei Visnies, and we have to thank the director Jaša Jamnik for directing the first Slovenian production, hides the question of fear of unemployment and the question of when a person becomes too old for the job market under the seemingly comic performance. Premiere performance of the drama Old clowns in SNG Nova Gorica will take place November 16, 2016. Insightful work from your pen Romanian author, the poet, a journalist and philosopher Matei Visniec will direct for the Slovenian production Jaša Jamnik, a long-time associate of SNG Nova Gorica.
The play Old Clowns follows three old acquaintances, who find themselves in front of a job advertisement. An aging circus performer Filippo and Niccolo and their mentor Peppino everyone compete for the role of 'old clown'. Beneath the surface of joyful dreaming is hiding anxious and tense atmosphere an arduous struggle for a job that will ultimately belong to only one of them. Tired of waiting, they want to relax and they start performing their best circus spots.

Matei Visniec is one of the most famous Romanian playwrights, whose plays have been translated into eighteen languages, and they are staged every year at the world's biggest stages. The Slovenian audience met him for the first time in 2014, namely with his lyrical comedy A story about pandas told by a saxophonist and his lover in Frankfurt. This time he will charm the audience with the black comedy Old Clowns, which illuminates a deeply buried existential predicament through a comic prism.
