Believe it or not, the railway funicular to Ljubljana Castle celebrates its 10th anniversary at the end of the year. Funicular railway was erected in 2006, but at the conceptual level it is much older. The mayor already dreamed about her Ivan Hribar, who is in his initiative to buy the castle in 1897 by the Austro-Hungarian authorities wrote, among other things: "Because the view from the rooms in question is enchantingly beautiful and because the current shady courtyard could be used very well to become a castle, if an elevator is built on it, which would take you to the top for about ten krajcars or even cheaper , always - and especially in the summer evenings - very well attended." An architect also dealt with it Jože Plečnik, and Boris Kobe and Edo Mihevc, and the idea became flesh in 2006 (construction had already started a year earlier), when Ljubljana got panoramic cabin on the tracks.

I accept the funicular up to 33 passengers and drives in ten-minute intervals. It goes along the slope one minute (can transport up to 500 visitors in one hour). During this time, we climb a little more than 70 meters.
2015 has been a record year for the funicular so far. Last year, she transported just 348,253 passengers. Will 2016 take her 'title'? We will have to wait a little longer for this, first, for 2016 to have the last word, and then for the statisticians to do their work.
