Zmajev Karneval is Ljubljana's carnival, which includes a large carnival procession through the city streets and an entertainment program on Congress Square. In the procession, among the colorful schemes, we also find typical masks from pagan folk tradition, such as kurents, laufars and morostari.
Dragon Carnival is the Ljubljana carnival, which takes place on Shrove Saturday in the center of Ljubljana. It is a joyful day, marked by a large carnival procession and an entertainment program on the Congress Square, which should not be missed. In the carnival procession, among other colorful schemes, we will also find groups of traditional carnival masks, among which the most famous are the kurents from Ptuj, the laufars from Cerkljan and the Škoromats from Hrušica.
Slovenian carnival schemes are extremely picturesque, and carnival customs reflect the former local peculiarities of the village surroundings. This year's theme of the Dragon Carnival is the sights of Ljubljana, as in 2015 the city of Ljubljana is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of the architect Maks Fabiani, who left a strong mark on the urban design of modern Ljubljana.
