The Blub Uno is a retro "nixie" desk clock made in Australia. Its beautiful, functional and modern design turns checking the watch from a necessity into a pleasant task.
Designer Duncan Hellmer it is with a clock Blub Uno wanted to create an object whose unique appearance allows it to fit into today's modern interior, while still maintaining a sense of retro nostalgia and sentimentality.
Nixie tubes/tubes were a popular method of displaying numbers in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, and were mainly used for calculators and scientific equipment. They are made of glass and mostly filled with neon. Inside each glass tube are the numbers 0 to 9, one after the other, on wires.
The Blub Uno watch is powered by highly integrated electronics and complex hardware and software to control settings hidden inside a modern watch. Time like that instead of the standard time notation of 12:30, it displays the time in the sequence 1…2…3…0. It also records the time date, temperature, and of course it also has an alarm. There is also an option "night time", where nixie the tubes can turn off and turn on again later (this will save some energy, but at the same time we will not be disturbed by the light of the numbers on the clock during sleep).
