Drones or unmanned aerial vehicles are one of the fastest growing technological innovations, which are already used in many fields. Although we initially associated them with the military, they are increasingly being used for commercial and private purposes, where activity recording dominates, but Australia's Ars Electronica Futurelab has used them to create art. 3D creations, something between fireworks and a 90's screensaver, were created with these Spaxls.
First of all, we owe you an explanation of the word Spaxel, which is a compound from the word "space" (universe) and "pixel" (pixel). It is a drone with four rotors equipped with LEDs- people who use the sky as their canvas and draw on it 3D figures, and the choreography is computer controlled. Because of their glowing light, they act as unidentified flying objects, and because they fly in swarms, they create spectacular scenes.

In London, near Tower Bridge, they drew on the sky Star Trek logo (Star Trek), and in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates they staged a light show called "Clusters of Light", which was part of the celebration when the city took the title the capital of Islamic culture. It depicted the life of the Prophet Muhammad and the beginnings of Islam, as you can partially see in the photo gallery.
