The whole world knows the story of Jesus' resurrection, because together with the crucifixion, it is considered one of the foundations of the Christian faith. But hardly anyone knows this story, which is otherwise described in detail in the Bible of the New Testament through the eyes of an unbeliever. And it is through the prism of a man - a Roman commander - that the film Risen tackles one of the greatest events in the history of mankind. He had one task. Making sure Jesus stays dead because "if his body is gone, we have a potential Messiah."
The resurrection of Jesus is still shrouded in mystery today, which is why the story is still so attractive even thousands of years later. The film is also aware of this Risen, which tells the story of the rock rolled away from the entrance to his sealed tomb and the folded veil that covered his body from the perspective of an agnostic military commander of the Roman army (Joseph Fiennes).
