The nondescript black packaging for Workshop 19 was one of the most anticipated releases of the year. It offers the absolute best in psychedelic mid-tempo house.
7. Gazelle Twin, Unflesh
Elizabeth Bernholz's exciting and industrial-tinged opus draws on Kate Bush and The Knife.
8. Theo Parrish, American Intelligence
The more than two-hour compilation American Intelligence, whose name is an oxymoron, offers small doses of rhythms that never leave us.
9. Moodymann, Moodymann
For his remarkable seventh studio album, laid-back and legendary outlaw Kenny Dixon Jr. mixes jazz, soul, funk, gospel and house.
10. Ben Frost, AURORA
The fifth solo album from the Australian producer from Iceland is completely different from what we've heard from him before. His album AURORA is as much a testing of musical boundaries as it is a transcendental beauty.
