10 items that celebrities took to their graves

You probably all know that the Egyptians were the ones who buried objects in their graves along with the dead. A bit creepy (or fun, depending on what kind of person you are) is the fact that many celebrities still do this today. We present to you 10 items that celebrities such as Frank Sinatra, Andy Warhol, Elizabeth Taylor and Bob Marley took to their graves.

1. Bela Lugosi - The Cloak of Count Dracula (died 1956)

The American actor of Romanian roots, who became famous with many roles in horror films, also portrayed Count Dracula in the original film from 1931. He obviously identified with the role very much, as he took the cape of the most famous count of all time with him to the grave ( but it wasn't the original movie cape - they tried to sell it at auction in 2011).

2. Humphrey Bogart - The Golden Whistle (died 1957)

“You know how to whistle, don't you, Steve? You just put your lips together and … blow.” The above scene is from To Have and Have Not, in which the American actor starred alongside beauty Lauren Bacall. The actors had a relationship not only on the movie screen, but also in their private lives. So Bogart was buried with a golden whistle that Bacall had given him, and the inscription "If you need anything, just whistle" is engraved on his grave.

3. Elizabeth Taylor - Richard Burton's last love letter (died 2011)

Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, whose relationship was followed by all the media, was buried at her own request with the last love letter of the man in her life. This letter was written by Burton three days before his death in Switzerland, and Taylor received it just as she returned home from his funeral. From then until her death, she kept the letter on her bedside table, and although many of their letters have been published to this day, none have ever been made public.

The love story of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton continues even after death.

4. Bob Marley – his red Les Paul guitar and weed (died 1981)

The reggae singer lies in his grave with his guitar, although no one knows for sure if it is really the famous red Gibson Les Paul. Of course, Marley wouldn't be Marley if he didn't have some weed with him on the other side, too.

5. Andy Warhol - a few issues of Interview magazine and a bottle of Estee Lauder perfume (died 1987)

The leading pop art artist did not choose the objects with which he is buried. Just before they began to bury the grave at the funeral, a few copies of Interview magazine and a bottle of Estee Lauder perfume were thrown into the grave by his longtime friend Paige Powell.

6. Leonard Bernstein – keyboardist, score of Mahler's 5th Symphony and copy of Alice in Wonderland (died 1990)

The American composer, conductor and pianist was buried along with the keyboard and score of Mahler's Fifth Symphony. In addition, he took with him to the afterlife a copy of his beloved Alice in Wonderland, which he carried with him on all his travels.

7. Frank Sinatra - Jack Daniels bottle (died 1998)

The American singer and actor liked to lean it a little all his life. He always drank Jack Daniels mixed with ice and water, and his relatives buried him with it so that he would have a bottle with him on his last journey.

8. Roald Dahl - pool cues, HB pencils, chainsaw, chocolates and red wine (died 1990)

The author of Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and other children's bestsellers took his favorite objects to his grave: pool cues, HB pencils, which he used to write almost all of his books, an electric saw, chocolate bars and red wine. All well and good, but…an electric saw?! We wonder too...

9. Tony Curtis – iPhone (died 2010)

The American actor who was most popular in the fifties was buried with a modern object: his iPhone. That he will be able to call home from another world, of course.

10. Sandra Ilene West - Ferrari 330 America, year 64 (died 1977)

A California celebrity who died of a drug overdose was buried in her favorite nightgown in the driver's seat of her Ferrari. But so that the prestigious grave would not tempt thieves, they buried everything together in a huge box covered with cement.
