What to remove from your home and what to put in it to attract positive energy according to Feng Shui!

Feng shui is a Chinese philosophy of arranging space with the intention that attract positive energy to the home. Since spring is a period of cleaning, awakening and change, Feng Shui recommends the following cleaning and tidying up.

How to attract positive energy

1. Clean your space

According to the principles of Feng Shui, clutter negatively affects the quality of our life. It clogs the space and stops the flow of positive energy in the home. It is important to clean cupboards, shelves and table tops, the entrance area, the area in front of the door and under the bed.

2. Repair or replace broken things

Cracked photo frames, broken light bulbs, broken vases and crockery can contribute to negative energy in the home. Repairing these items is fine, but according to the teachings of Feng Shui, it is better to replace them completely.

3. Let air and light circulate

During the colder winter months, it is important to open the windows and doors every day to let fresh air in and get rid of bad energy. The same goes for light – windows symbolize how the world sees us, so they should be clean and without coverings. Treat the interior glass surfaces and mirrors in the same way. Find dark corners and add a lamp to illuminate the space and things.

4. Use colors carefully

Different shades are associated with different emotions, so choose shades wisely when decorating. Paint the walls a different color, or add a color that suits you with decorations and accessories such as cushions, rugs, details.

What do the different shades of color represent?

  • Red – passion, enthusiasm
  • Yellow – joy
  • Green – balance, growth and abundance
  • Blue – peace and quiet
  • Gray – focus and clarity
  • White – freshness, innocence and cleanliness
  • Pink – love and care
  • Purple – wealth and spirituality
  • Black – creativity
  • Brown – grounding and power
  • Orange – sociability and connection

5. Add the plants

Plants look beautiful and at the same time they filter the air and create a cleaner and fresher environment - which is very important for good Feng Shui. Look for varieties that are easy to maintain, as dead plants will have the opposite effect! Here are some great houseplants that are believed to bring good luck to the home.

6. Pay special attention to the bedroom

The bedroom is where you rest and recharge for the day ahead, so it's a really important space in terms of Feng Shui.

Start with the bed. It should never face the door because in Feng Shui it is considered to drain energy. Also, do not place pictures above the bed, as they disturb sleep.

Decorate and arrange the space in such a way that it presents a peaceful environment, decorate it with soothing colors, provide more natural light - let it act as your oasis of relaxation.

7. Entrance door

Your door is the entrance to your home and also the entrance to the very important "good chi". Make sure nothing is blocking or obstructing your entrance, that you keep the outside areas nice and tidy (no weeds) and that the gates are in top condition. If the paint is peeling and the handle looks broken, paint the door, repair the handle, or replace it with a new door.

8. Remove obstacles

According to the principles of Feng Shui, physical obstacles around the house are also bad, as they can cause blockages in life. We are not talking about clutter here, but about things that can slow us down or interrupt your path or flow.

For example, a door that is difficult to open and requires several strong pulls to open, an overflowing closet that leaves a mess when you pull things out, or a light that takes a while to turn on when you flip a switch. Try to solve these problems.

10. Watch out for neglected areas

Look for any parts or corners of the house that are gathering dust or haven't been used in a while. If there are things lying around that you never use, get rid of them.
