Sentimentality fills me and a smile comes to my face when I nostalgically remember all the "mularia" from the block, which, among other things, also gathered at our place, when we happily protested who would cross the course in record time or break the whole wall with a ball and shoot all the invaders . Of course, we laughed mischievously at the failed attempts, but with increasing joy we fought over who would sit down again at our first computer, which was nothing more than a simple black keyboard with a rainbow on the side.
And somehow it was legendary Sinclair's ZX Spectrum, which could be afforded by anyone who at that time could scrape together a little less than four hundred German marks, which meant a little more than the average Slovenian monthly salary. I can still hear the sound of the cassette when you pushed it into the cassette player and the process of loading the program parameters began, which got their visual image on the small black and white TV screen, later, of course, it also got its own colors. Looking back, it amazes me how much technology has changed in the last thirty years. And if the steam engine started the revolution more than a quarter of a century ago, which was followed hundreds of years later by the first telephone, we certainly witnessed a kind of digital revolution. The new generation of children is probably wondering how it was possible to have such a big "something" at home, as we liked to call the TV, which also played a black and white picture on top of it, and how it is possible to write a homework paper faster than you type. It's unimaginable for them, but unfathomable for us, how at the age of three they are pounding on all possible digital devices at supersonic speed in order to "Google" the latest part of the series of their favorite cartoon in 3D format. In short, the technology trend has become a social phenomenon, which is not only present in the world of the modern generation, but also shows its pervasiveness in the creation of our magazine. Although we are not celebrating a round number this year, the number nine is also of such a magical nature that we also indulged in a few changes and opened champagne next to our renewed website.
This one is more friendly to users who are betting on the modern platform of the development of our mobile and tablet computers and who are especially eager for that quick information that touches their everyday life. New activities certainly give a new face to the way of communication, which promises a promising future for intellectual media, but we must not forget even those good old manners, when we indulge in leafing through the paper with pleasure and read a few lines of a random article that caught our attention and interest. You could say that print is for those who know how to take their time, and the web should be for those who can't spare more than a few minutes for one thing.
And what is our future? In any case, it is inevitably connected with the digital revolution and ideal, more practical and functional and fun technological objects. In other words, if our devices no longer communicate with the internet, will soon be obsolete, humanoid robots will be throwing our children's birthday parties, and I'm just now enjoying the chocolate cake I treated myself to for the magazine's ninth year of publication City Magazine, while playing "Invaders" on www.zxspectrum.net with my computer and tapping on the tablet and scrolling through the content of our new website citymagazine.si.
