#177 City Magazine - Winter without snowflakes

Have you already rested from the busy festive atmosphere, receiving and giving gifts, good wishes and words that the next year will definitely be better than the last? Have you checked out the stores during sales? Have you already tasted the joys of winter and made your first turns on the white slopes?

Without the need to talk about this or that, I fulfilled the latter, somewhat the first, January expectations, when I was asked in "small talks" by acquaintances I met on the road and somehow they were not prepared for my fleeting presence. And when you already don't know how the conversation should go, there follows a kind of communication mask, that miraculous sentence, when you run out of words, to start explaining at length about the weather, which is a hot topic this year that cannot be avoided (under ) to buy. "Oh, this weather... it doesn't look like it's going to snow this year," begins a new topic of conversation. If we had a meter of snow, the thing would be somewhat similar, except that the last part would read something like this, saying, what will we have so much snow...

Humans are truly never satisfied with either situation. Me neither at the moment. Winter without snow is like a sea without salt for me. It does not in any way match the romantic idea I have of a snow-white winter, when the day is lengthened by the moon's reflection off the glistening ice and carpet of snow. Sometimes I say to myself that the moon and the stars are looking at their mirror, smiling, gossiping and puffing themselves up with words when they talk about their beauty. The streets are filled with a fairy-tale note, and I am filled with sentimentality for a time when we children were never deprived of such winter adventures. When I was a child, there was always an unspoken rule in our family that in the summer it was necessary to go to the sea for a few days, and in the winter to the snow. Parents and schools, as well as local communities at the time, organized transportation to nearby ski areas every year during the holidays and on weekends. Each of us had packed our own backpack with a sandwich and a thermos of tea, and there was also some "knofelca" that you usually used if the "fur" on your jacket broke, of course it was the next day fixed, just so you could go on the snow. That anyone would be sick then, never. That no one would complain then, never. It also happened that once there was no snow, but you and I packed our basic things and went on a long journey to Slovakia, to the Low Tatras. It was a laugh, we were already laughing at the border when we couldn't agree on how many pairs of skis we had. In fact, we also had cross-country skis, and when asked how many pairs of skis we had, of course we also included cross-country skis, after which the lady at customs got angry that we had skis and skis; we kids really had fun. In general, we were never without winter and snow, and we skied almost as fast as Mateja Svet and Bojan Križaj. We are also entering the sports year, with our first issue, because the upcoming year is completely in the Olympic spirit, and in the summer we also have the World Cup in football waiting for us. Would you like something more? Maybe a snowflake or two..._
