Hand on heart, in America it is possible to turn even such an unusual and simple dish into the American dream, even if its origin comes from a not-so-close place, but from a completely different side of the world. The delicious culinary legend, which was previously perfected and supplemented from the plains of Central Asia through Europe, eventually managed to cross the Atlantic Ocean with German emigrants from the port of Hamburg and arrive in a city that is still famous for the best burgers in the world.

And what is that, what makes a hamburger so good that we simply can't imagine life without it? First of all, definitely slight sweetness, which you feel at the first bite and instantly gets you hooked and makes your taste buds want to explore further what is hidden under the soft, slightly toasted, bombette hat. I remember their "first", when we were in a hurry in the upper grade of elementary school in Ljubljana to visit a museum, they ran up and hurried to mention the name of the bar on Čopova that we had to go to.

And it began a new era, which hid behind the expression global world. Although more than two decades have passed since then, I remember the event and the taste like it was yesterday. Even earlier, I should mention that today it is no longer the case, the famous brand has got its own competition, which it challenges or, you can judge for yourself, surpassed in style. Everyone tries to make a unique burger a little differently or with additives, which would make it among the stars of recognition for both locals and travelers from foreign countries. But the basis remains the same. Burnt bombette with juicy, grilled meat, crispy onions, soft salad or grilled pickles, topped with melted cheese, mayonnaise, mustard and ketchup. But the culinary excess is hidden in the details, which the chefs do not want to reveal and prefer to keep hidden looks and smiles to themselves, which is complemented by the fact that his burger, while we lick our fingers to infinity, is created to perfection. Alone otherwise I'm not exactly a vegetarian, but I like to swear by meat-free food, so let me give you a hint that you can make a great burger yourself at home with zucchini or soy patties, and you can add a sauce made of roasted caramelized onions, tomatoes and pineapple with just the right amount of rosemary, so as not to overpower the other ingredients, a piece of melted cheese or cream on top, lettuce and homemade mayonnaise, and sprinkle with sesame, chia seeds or crushed pistachios on top. Remember that in order for the burger to be juicy, you need to pay attention to the balance of the ingredients and, most importantly, that it is made with love.
