#198 - City Magazine - Culinary

Time for a picnic, leisure and small things... A look out the window just lets me know that April weather is no longer synonymous with sun, and rain is again sun and rain... now, in addition to the rainbow, snow has intervened between them, and so don't be surprised if the bears extend their hibernation until summer, and we take advantage of the time for a picnic in pristine nature, of course with an umbrella, a thermal jacket and a warm blanket.

The way into the unknown, quite simply kulinary experience with a sandwich and chocolate milk and a puppy who is always the first on the blanket and always eats the last bite, and casualness and little things, these are the words that could describe my ideal picnic. But these days, picnics are more than that. The desire to go unnoticed and merge with nature has turned into a social norm that dictates it stylistic exhibitionism. What used to be a bike and a basket of treats stuck in the back seat, now a large station wagon or minivan that holds the whole mini kitchen with grill, a refrigerator and, of course, a top-quality set of plates and dishes for at least ten people, not to forget a gallon of water, as well as chairs and a large table. And while dad is preparing and assembling his new grill, mom is busy arranging the table stylishly, where there is no shortage of bouquets of fresh flowers, and the children are "geeking" their new PSP, while the puppy is waiting boredly for his "outdoor" container with dog briquettes. And when everything is ready and idyllically set, "photos" are taken and posted on Facebook and Instagram, and only then does the culinary feast begin. Of course, in between there is also the checking of the pressed "like" button, followed by the trend of constant "taking pictures" and posting on social networks for each eating step, of course with idyllic nature in the background. And to conclude, one last "photoshoot" of empty and dirty plates and full bellies and a casually stretched out ata lying on a large lounger. A day in nature it's over when mom cleans up and puts everything back in the trunk like lego blocks, when the kids "geek" the new "level", when the dog falls asleep in the basket and when dad says it's time for the picnic team to go home. I forgot something else... Oh, but on the way home there is a "crowd" on the road again... and the neighbor's car in the convoy has four more "bikes" on the roof... and another neighbor also has a boat... These are the "hidden" charms of today's population on the outside, sharing life moments with everyone from the social network, sharing moments, which belong only to you, children who see only virtual world, and grandparents who would rather see the picnic as it once was. With something in between and of course still a spoonful of culinary experience we will also wander, among other things we will stop at ours city market, where it keeps its doors wide open every Friday Open kitchen. On a trip around the world, we'll look into picnic baskets, maybe we'll find some more ideas or hints, but we won't completely avoid the digital medium either, but we can make a few more detours and still experience a wonderful outdoor picnic, without excessive likes and digital devices , maybe only with a GPS device so that we don't accidentally get lost there somewhere "in the urban wilderness".
