Since 1964, the Design Biennale in Ljubljana has been examining the state of contemporary design. BIO 50 brings 11 thematic groups.
BIO 50 will be a complex transformative event, the purpose of which is to strengthen local and international design networks, to find alternatives to already established systems with the help of design, and to create a basis for the creation of durable structures that can develop even after the end of the biennale," said curator Jan Boelen about the upcoming biennale . This year's jury consists of industrialists designer Konstantin Grcic, internationally established design commentator Alice Rawsthorn and Saša J. Mächtig, one of the most important industrial designers in Slovenia. BIO 50 brings eleven topics, groups: Accessible Living, Know Your Food, Public Water - Public Space, Walking the City, Hidden Crafts, Fashion System, Hacking Home Appliances, Nanotourism, Motor Units, Observing the Universe, and Designing Life.
