On November 14, 2019, the 26th Design Biennale, BIO 26, is coming to Ljubljana, which this year will be held under the title Shared Knowledge.
The central theme of the Design Biennale, which will be held under the title Common Knowledge, is crisis in the field of information. 26th Design Biennale 2019, BIO 26, will present six winning projects that were selected as part of a design marathon, where teams of designers and non-designers tackled the challenges associated with institutions for the production and transmission of knowledge.
By including various contents, structures and stakeholders, the 26th Design Biennale aims to find new ways, discover potentials, present projects and explore concepts and systems that would transform disruptive information chaos into creative collections of knowledge. The term "common knowledge" refers to knowledge that people in a particular community have and share it with each other, and in a broader sense also to their thinking and how they express their ideas, feelings and beliefs. In addition, the term "common knowledge" also carries within it the idea of general knowledge of the community.
The 26th Design Biennale will be curated by an Austrian curator and cultural producer Thomas Geisler and assistant curator Aline Lara Rezende.
