Since 2007, March 28 has hosted Earth Hour, an environmentally sustainable campaign, when the lights around the world turn off for 60 minutes at 8:30 p.m. local time. With this move, individuals, countries and local communities draw attention to the necessity of fighting climate change. It is a global initiative organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in which everyone can participate.
They are the first time environmental sustainability action Earth Hour, the day when for 60 minutes lights out organized in sydney soon after the affair grew into world event, which proves again every year that if we join forces - in this case, turn off the lights for an hour - we are able to make important changes in thinking and actions. And the Earth needs us now more than ever, and so do our descendants.
Initiatives WWF, which applies to the largest environmental project in the world, Slovenia joined for the first time six years ago, which together with the rest of the world calls for the fight against climate change and points to negative effects of excessive lighting and calls for careful, responsible and sustainable treatment of the Earth. It is a day when not only houses, blocks and high-rises, but also many landmarks are in the dark, and the stars come to the fore even in larger cities, which due to light pollution even on clear nights they became practically invisible.

And how do you join the Earth Hour project, in which you have participated so far over 7,000 towns and cities on all seven continents? Between 20:30 and 21:30 local time turn off the lights and all electrical and electronic devices that do not guarantee your personal or property safety. And when you turn on the lights again, repeat the guiding thought of this initiative throughout the year: "I will if you will" (I will, if you will") and become an example or inspiration for others. The only way is waiting for us a brighter future, albeit with less or more efficiently used artificial light.
