3 New Fashion Documentaries (2017) You Should See

If you've always wanted to know the path that leads the most famous fashion designers to their magnificent creations, or you're just curious about what goes through their minds while they create, then you need to see these three fashion documentaries. They offer an insight into the private life and creative process of three fashion giants.

Three new fashion documentaries (2017), which you should see:

House of Z (2017)

In 2001, Zac Posen was only 21 years old, but he was still one of the most talked about fashion designers. Namely, he designed structured and elegant dresses, which became the one and only love of some of the world's biggest stars (Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet, Naomi Campbell...). But like every fairy tale, this one also has its dark side. His clean, austere and sophisticated style went out of fashion, but he himself fought for survival. Despite his provocations, or perhaps because of them, the brand was 'in the cold'. After 16 years, everything is the same again. Today, Zac has two brands, Zac Posen and ZAC Zac Posen, he is the creative director at Brooks Brothers, and his cookbook was published this October. The documentary tells the story of his rise and fall and his return to fashion giants.

Manolo: King of Shoes (2017)

"Manolo Blahnik's shoes are better than sex!" declared Madonna in the mid-1980s. The documentary film Manolo: King of Shoes is a love story about a man's wild passion for his work. It presents a rich portrait of Manolo Blahnik, a self-proclaimed shoemaker who is considered by the most influential people in the fashion world to be the best shoemaker of the 20th and 21st centuries. The film follows the story of Manolo from his early years growing up on the isolated Canary Islands to his incredible rise to fame today. In the documentary Manolo: The King of Shoes, famous fashion icons talk about why Manolo shoes are a must-have for every woman and what it's like to wear them. You can watch the film in selected cinemas here as well.

Dries (2017)

A documentary film was created under the direction of the famous German director Reiner Holzemer, which follows the life of the famous Belgian designer Dries Van Noten. The focus is mainly on the collaboration between him and his team in the creation of four collections for the coming year, and he continues with the design of the fashion magazine. The documentary is mostly shot at his home and in his studio. Although the designer has rarely been publicly exposed, you can expect a real fashion treat.
