The oldest festival of lesbian and gay films in Europe will once again this year present cinematographic novelties concerning homosexual themes at various venues in the capital and Slovenia. The 34th LGBT Film Festival 2018 is an important socialization and social event, as foreign and domestic filmmakers will try to open many perspectives on the issue of homosexuality through original films. Two Slovenian films will also be presented.
34. LGBT Film Festival 2018 has a very long tradition, as it is considered to be the first festival in Europe that deals with homosexual issues since 1984. That's how they gather every year artists from different parts of the world, to present original films that thematize issues of homosexuality.
The festival has been around for many years his audience, who also understands this event as an important event that tries to de-taboo the issues of homosexuality. This year, the artists prepared a rich set of films in which this topic is tackled in an artistic way from different angles.
Italy, China, France, Africa, USA, Colombia are just some of them countries, which this year they participate at the festival. Slovenia is also among these, because two Slovenian films will also be shown, namely Consequences and Growing up.
In the movie Consequences it's the first one Slovenian (non-amateur) film with an explicit gay theme – eighteen-year-old Andrej ends up in an educational institution for youth, where he meets Željko, the informal leader of the foster children there, with which they become close. When Željko discovers that Andrej is attracted to him, he begins to exploit him.
An intimate portrait Growing up and takes us into the private world four-month-old Tibor and his mothers Daja and Jedrt, who join the election campaign before the referendum on marriage equality in the pre-Christmas season of the year 2015. I am addicted to the challenges first-time parents face opponents of full equalization of rights for same-sex citizens.
On the organizer's website you're a festival you can also view this year's program and you choose the movies to watch.
