Lovers of jazz come to our account again. The year is over and the new edition of the Ljubljana Jazz Festival is upon us again, the fifty-third in a row. Real jazz sweets are waiting for us, which will provide a nice introduction to the musical summer. So we will be able to listen to Joe McPhee on trumpet and alto saxophone and Ingebrigt Håker Flaten on bass, among others. Their collaboration is said to be organic and passionate, and to sum up free jazz with an intimate experience. Dee Dee Bridgewater is coming to Križanke. She has been compared to jazz divas such as Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. She dedicated an album to both and received numerous Grammys. Sometimes he also sings in French, playing with Malian music. Neneh Cherry, who most people know from the mega hit 7 seconds, will also perform. Few of us know that Neneh also sailed into jazz waters. She's accompanied by the excellent band The Thing, named after a song by Don Cherry, so it's no wonder the members befriended his adopted daughter Neneh. We will be attending the world premiere of their new album, which will be released in the second half of June. The end of the festival will be provided by John Scofield, who is returning to Slovenia with a special project, as he has invited another guitarist, Kurt Rosenwinkle, who is considered the most expressive guitarist of the younger generation, to his band. Slovenian colors will be represented Jure Pukl's Abstract Society, Žiga Murko 13, Kaja Draksler and many others.
