How to get a discounted room? When should you not call the reception?
Check out some interesting tricks revealed by hotel receptionists.
Booking websites
Different platforms that offer accommodation take their own commission from each booking. This amounts to up to 30 percent. Therefore, if you call the accommodation directly and offer a price with a 20 percent discount, there is a high probability that the receptionist will agree.
Give the maid time
If you show up at 11:00 a.m., even though check-in time isn't until after 2:00 p.m., don't freak out because your room isn't ready yet. Maids have their own system that is impossible to speed up. If you really need the room earlier, please inform the hotel before your arrival.
Ask for a room upgrade
For a room upgrade, ask the receptionist in private, not so that the entire hotel lobby can hear you. Do you want a more spacious room? Request a corner room.
We all lie
Sometimes the receptionists are forced to fold a little. Let's say that when the elevator breaks down, they claim that the repairman will come very soon. Although only this one will arrive after the weekend, as the hotel manager is not ready to pay the higher weekend price.
Do not call during check-out/check-in time
Do not call between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., as that is often the busiest time at the reception desk. Receptionists tend to a long line of people who either want to check in or check out, so they won't listen to your wishes.
Take shower soaps
There is nothing wrong with taking soap, shampoo and lotion home with you. They are often emblazoned with the hotel's logo and would be thrown away anyway at the end of your stay.
Tipping the maid
Most maids make minimum wage, so they are happy to tip. Trust me, some kindness will definitely pay off.
