Andreï Filipov was the famous conductor of Russia's most famous orchestra, the Bolshoi Theatre. But when he refused to fire the Jewish musicians, the communists threw him out of his job at the height of his fame. He fell into depression - and now, in his fifties, he works in the Bolshoi as a cleaner. One day, he intercepts a fax inviting the Bolshoi Orchestra to Paris, and a crazy idea comes to his mind: he will gather his old friends, former musicians, and instead of the invitees, they will travel.
