Photo: envato

What if we told you that you can make a Pavlo cake without having to heat up the kitchen with an oven?

With this simple recipe – Airfryer Pavlova cake – you can make a fluffy meringue base without spending hours cooking it!

Pavlova was created as a tribute to the ballerina Anna Pavlova. Airfryer Pavlova cake is an adapted version of the classic Pavlova cake, which is traditionally baked in the oven. The difference is that in this case an airfryer is used.

Air fryer enables faster baking using hot air, which creates the crispy exterior and soft interior of a Pavlova. The preparation is simple – whipped egg whites, baked until the outer shell is crispy and the inside has the texture of a marshmallow. The fillings can be adapted to the season or occasion – usually a combination of gently whipped cream and fruit.

Ingredients

  • 4 large egg whites
  • 220 g of powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon of white vinegar
  • Extras:
  • 240 ml of sweet cream
  • 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar
  • Fresh fruit of your choice (e.g. strawberries, raspberries, blueberries)

Directions

  1. Preheat your Airfryer to 100°C. Prepare a baking tray that fits in the Airfryer and line it with baking paper.
  2. Egg White Sponge Cake: In a large bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy. Gradually add the sugar, beating constantly, until the mixture is glossy and forms stiff peaks. Gently fold in the cornstarch and white vinegar until smooth. Form the sponge cake into a round or your choice of shape on a baking sheet.
  3. Baking: Bake in the Airfryer for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes or until the biscuit is dry and crispy on the outside but still soft in the middle. After baking, let the biscuit cool in the Airfryer with the door open.
  4. Prepare the topping and decoration: In another bowl, whip the heavy cream with the powdered sugar until stiff. Once the sponge cake has cooled, spread the whipped cream over it. Top with fresh fruit of your choice.
  5. Serving: The Pavlova cake is ready to serve. Enjoy its light and crispy texture with fresh fruit and creamy topping.
