The best books of 2015 to read by the fireplace

Book and winter are the best pair. It's hard to imagine anything better than sitting in front of the fireplace, wrapped in a warm blanket and reading a good book with a cup of tea. Since autumn and winter are the ideal time for reading books, we have selected for you the ten best of this year, which impressed Slovenian readers and readers around the world.

The best books of 2015, which we will read by the fireplace:

1. Harper Lee: Go Set a Watchman

The book, which the writer wrote in the 1950s, takes place 20 years after the story of her previous book, for which Harper Lee received the Pulitzer Prize: To Kill a Mockingbird (To Kill a Mockingbird). The story begins when 26-year-old Jean Louis Finch - "Scout" from New York returns to his native Alabama to visit his elderly father.

2. Nigella Lawson: Simply Nigella – Feel Good Food

Nigella Lawson has published a new book of recipes that should be the perfect counterbalance to our everyday life. Nigella fights against stress and the fast pace of life with food that heals the body, comforts the soul and puts a smile back on our faces. On November 2, the BBC is also starting a new series of Simply Nigella, when gourmets will be able to watch Nigella again on TV screens.

3. Oprah Winfrey: What I know for sure

One of the most successful business women in history, who achieved her success through hard work, perseverance and compassion for others, collected in a booklet the columns she wrote over the years in her magazine O, and combined them with her view of the world and her life story. What I know for sure is that it is a booklet that addresses and encourages readers.

4. Desa Muck: Detachment

A new novel for adults by the witty and insightful writer Desa Muck is about members of the so-called Love Squad who meet in the open ward of a psychiatric hospital. 5. Manca Košir: Gifts of passing (letters)

The book of correspondence about passing and death consists of sincere and touching letters from correspondents Mance Košir, such as Ksenija Malia Leban, Janko Bohak and Urška Lunder. Despite the difficult subject, all the letters are permeated with confidence in life and, as a result, optimism, which inspires readers.

6. Vinko Möderndorfer: Little Night Quartet

The new book of the poet, writer, playwright and director consists of his four new plays: Europe, Little Night Quartet, Visits and Nostalgic Comedy. It was published on October 23, so it's really still "fresh" from the printing press.

7. Paula Hawkins: The Girl on the Train

The psychological thriller of the British writer and journalist has been on all the best-seller lists since its release at the beginning of this year, and the rights to make the film were already bought by the DreamWorks Pictures studio in 2014. The tense story takes place in London through the narration of three women: Rachel, Anne and Megan.

8. Robert Douglas-Fairhurst: The Story of Alice (Lewis Carroll and the Secret History of Wonderland)

This year marks exactly 150 years since Lewis Carroll wrote the story of Alice in Wonderland. On this occasion, Robert Douglas-Fairhurst set about studying the background behind the creation of this influential book. Alice was inspired by a person from the real life of the writer Alice Liddell.

9. Marlon James: A Brief History of Seven Killings

10. Alma M. Karlin: Magical Stories of Ancient Egypt

Alma M. Karlin is a woman who German newspapers wrote about at the beginning of the 20th century as the first white woman to travel the world alone. While she traveled non-stop for eight years, researching and creating, the native of Celje, who studied and worked in London, lived by writing her best-selling travelogues. Her monograph mainly sheds light on her greatest passion related to ancient Egyptian culture.
