If you're employed, it's probably clear to you that your excuse for not coming to work is the adult version of a child's excuse for not doing their homework. When you want to stay at home, that's when your imagination is incredibly rich. These people who took part in the research had excuses so crazy it hurts.
Finding original employee excuses, so that they don't have to come to work is nothing new. People have been lying about their health or their situation in order to cover up the deception as convincingly as possible since time immemorial.
When it comes to finding a convincing excuse for missing work, human imagination really knows no bounds. And recent website research Career Builder, which asked employees about the (best and worst) excuses for sick leave or absence from work, is living proof of this!
Research findings have shown that people often feel obliged to invent an excuse to stay at home, even if they could take time off. But many cannot afford it, so when looking for excuses, it becomes unbelievable creative.
STUPID EXCUSES OF EMPLOYEES WHY THEY DID NOT COME TO WORK:
- The employee claimed it was too cold to work.
- The employee claimed to have morning sickness.
- The employee claimed that his coffee was too hot and he had to wait for it to cool down enough.
- The employee claimed that his dog ate the work schedule.
- The employee claimed that he came to work, but fell asleep in the car in the parking lot.
- The employee claimed that her false eyelashes had stuck together.
- The employee claimed that the astrologer told him that there was an accident on the highway he normally drives on, so he had to take a different route and was an hour late to work.
- The employee said that after five years he forgot that he did not work for his former employer and accidentally drove towards the location where he used to work.
