Today we're going to share with you a technique that will help you be productive in the morning, at the start of the day. It's a technique that makes us feel like we've only read half of a suspenseful story, but now we can't wait to turn to the next pages and read the sequel. It may sound strange, but it works. So what's the path to a more productive morning?
The technique for a more productive start to the day can be called just that "page turning technique". As we said before, it is necessary to imagine that we have read or heard only part of the suspenseful story, and now we have to wait for the rest. But we can't wait and wonder what will happen on the next page. Such a performance is a great help when we have problems with productivity. So if we are working on a project, we leave it half finished, and we make it in our minds some indents for next time, when we start the project again. If we finish it, let's imagine a new task for the next day. Anyway, it's important to have assignments ready for the next day.
This technique makes us excited about the work ahead in the coming days, while keeping the upcoming task in the back of our minds. This may mean that, among other things, some will be born a new idea or concept, how to tackle the task even better.
How to use the technique?
First, let's imagine the goal we want to achieve. For example, that we want to send e-mails with a job application. Our goal is to send ten emails a day. We send some e-mails already on Monday. Now what?
We can do some of the following things:
- we can prepare a list of people to whom we will send an email the next day,
- prepare some messages and save them in drafts.
The most important thing is to keep the momentum going for the next day - at the end of the day, while we're still fresh, plan a few things to do the next day. Even if we don't succeed right away or if we fall back a bit, let's not give up. Let's not delay and let's not wait. Let's move on. If we continue the "page-turning technique", we will never again wait for inspiration and stare at the computer screen, but we will know what needs to be done.

But what if we can't possibly leave the task half-finished?
Let's take recreation for example - if we're walking or running outside, we can't just stop halfway. So how do we encourage ourselves to go for recreation the next day? By doing so we feel obliged to pick up where we left off. So if we are running and we have already reached a certain point, then we can set another point for the next day, which is further than the original point.
Another way of the "page turning technique" is to leave a pair of sneakers and a pair of socks in a room where they are impossible to ignore. So instead of putting away our shoes, we put them near the door and leave our sports clothes near our bed.
What is our biggest goal that we want to achieve? What can we do to pick up where we left off the day before? Now it's time to put this technique to the test!
