The profession of barber is still very unusual in Slovenia. But Kristina from Abstrakt Barbers is proof that it is high time for this belief to fall.

When someone mentions the profession of a barber, men usually look at it with skepticism, since the profession of barber has always been reserved for men only. Women are surprised by the decision that girls find their mission in men's haircuts and beards.

Barber Kristina from Abstrakt Barbers

Kristina's inspiration for working with hair has followed her since childhood, and over the years her passion for cutting and styling hair grew, so choosing a profession was not difficult for her. The development of barbering in Slovenia coincided with her study exchange in Tenerife, where her desire to gain knowledge in a barbershop was rejected. It was believed that the barber shop was a place for men.

Despite the obstacles, she found her mission in barbering, and her strong desire drove her to progress. In this way, she proved to herself that working in a barbershop is not conditioned by gender, but by the quality of the service we can offer. After a year of working in a hairdressing salon, she got the opportunity to work in a barbershop Abstract Barbers. With dedication and hard work, she broke the stereotype of a woman's role in barbering. She became a barber.
With her story, Kristina confirms that with perseverance, vision and love for something, no doubt, even an impossible dream can become a reality.

Charity campaign for women's rights and equality

March 8 is upon us - International Women's Day. On this day, the world looks at the fairer sex and admits to it that without its representatives, it would not be the same. This is also the case in the world of barbering, where Slovenia lags slightly behind global trends, which do not differentiate between male and female barbers.
By highlighting Kristina, who bravely embarked on the career path of a barber, the Abstrakt barbers want to dispel the stereotype that barbering is a profession that only concerns a male audience. They will support their goal by allocating all of Kristina's earnings from the Abstrakt Barbers collective at Leskoškova 12 in Ljubaljana from March 1 to 8 to a foundation that fights for the rights and equality of the female sex - the March 8 Institute.
