The largest and one of the oldest folklore groups in Slovenia, the Academic Folklore Group of France Marolt, invites you to the gala concert "Rast" on May 16 and 17 in the Linhart hall in Cankarjev dom. Together with the Crescendo Symphony Orchestra, for which the young Slovenian composer Andrej Makor arranged ninety minutes of folk music, one hundred and fifty male and female dancers, singers and musicians will open the Amateur Culture Week event organized by JSKD in Ljubljana.
Annual production Academic folklore groups of France Marolt, "Rast", this time dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the birth of one of the most prominent choreographers and ethnochoreologists in Slovenia, Mirko Ramovša, and the 60th anniversary of his work with the group.
The performance will be based on the recreation of some parts of the choreographies of Ramovš's rarely performed opus, together with the novelties of the group's artistic director Tomaž Simetinger, to the sounds of a symphony orchestra, for a folk group with completely non-classical musical accompaniment. A young composer was also invited to participate this year Andrej Makor, which is in arrangement for Crescendo Symphony Orchestra "disguised" ninety minutes of folk music.
The course of the performance, with the harmonization of the music and the gradation of the dance design, which will be based on the interweaving of short choreographies, will symbolically indicate the continuous growth and development of folklore art, as cultivated and created by the Academic Folklore Group of France Marolt. It will also fill part of the sound image of the concert a cappella singing, which will be partly focused on experimental re-creation and search for new sounds of (re)creating this folk singing.
The gala concert of AFS France Marolt with the Crescendo Symphony Orchestra will also be part of the central opening event Week of amateur culture for central Slovenia, which will be accompanied by a speech by the Minister of Culture M.Sc. Juliana Bizjak Mlakar.
Pushing boundaries in folklore art has always been the guiding principle of the largest and one of the oldest Slovenian folklore groups – the Academic Folklore Group of France Marolt. Annual productions of popular Marolt singers on stage Cankar's home they surprise again and again, and they place the recreation of folk dance, music and clothing heritage alongside contemporary stage art. More than 150 dancers, singers and musicians will participate in the 90-minute dance-singing performance accompanied by the symphony.
Ticket prices vary from 8 euros to 16 euros.
