The original idea of the cooperation of top Cuban and Malian musicians on the AfroCubism album was born in 1996, but as fate would have it, the Malian musicians did not get visas for Cuba at that time. The plan quickly changed and they recorded the replacement album Buena Vista Social Club, which is considered legendary. The idea of cooperation was not forgotten. After fourteen years, it was realized in a band of brilliant musicians headed by guitarist and singer Eliades Ocho, original member of Buena Vista Social Club, Toumani Diabaté on kora, Bassekou Kouyate on ngoni, legendary guitarist Djelimady Tounkara, Baba Sissok on tamani and many others. Both sides of the band brought their own songs to the project. Eliades and his band added a Cuban touch to Toumani's songs, while the Malians added some African flair to Cuban evergreens such as Guantanamera, A la Luna yo me Voy Ochoe and Al Vaiven de mi Carreta, with vibrating bark, rhythmic ngoni and patterns balafon. They also released a new album, which they will present to us at the concert.
