Along the Adriatic - from a different perspective

The coast from the sea perspective offers a completely new aspect. Even if most people think they know the Adriatic well, a look from another angle hides, discovers and reveals a lot of new and unexpected things. Among the best means of travel for an adventure along the Adriatic is definitely a sailing boat.

And since autumn, morning mists and evening chill have crept into the city, the time is just right for a short extension of summer. In this destination, we are exploring Central Dalmatia with Kornati by sea.

Adriatic Sea in the area Central Dalmatia and Kornatov it is considered one of the cleanest seas and offers explorers many hidden corners, authentic fishing villages and local specialties. Let's start a sailing adventure in Biograd. The marina there is one of the largest in Zadar region and is a popular sailing starting point, as it offers sailing both north and south. For the first day we sail to of the island of Kaprije, which is one of the largest islands in the Šibenik archipelago. It is located between two islands The dragon and Poo, and it takes place in between Zmajanski or Kakan channel. Although Kaprije is one of the largest islands in this area, the island remains authentic, there is only one fishing village with a few hundred inhabitants, most of whom are farmers, fishermen and sailors. Its greatest charm is certainly the fact that it has no car traffic, and we can certainly attribute a big start to vacations here.

Kornati, a labyrinth of sea passages and islets

After a night on the island of Kaprije, sailing can continue to Kornatov. Do they need to be introduced? This is the most attractive island group Mediterranean with an unusual and unspoiled nature, with labyrinths of sea passages and islets - as many as 140 islands, islets and islands spread out in this area. Or as the old saying goes – as many days as there are in the year, there are as many Kornati islands. Kornati got its name from the largest island of Kornati. National park and many attractions are what invite marine explorers to become here. The labyrinth of walls and seas makes sailing here not easy, which is why it is all the more attractive and "Robinson-esque", as they like to describe it. According to the legend, Kornati was created from a large number of particles that remained to God after the creation of the world. He threw them into the sea, looked at them and concluded that there was no need to change anything.

Telašćica Nature Park

From Kornati we can sail to Long Island, and there in the pearl itself – Telašćica Nature Park. It's that crystal clear turquoise water from so many photos that looks quite Caribbean and it's just hard to believe that paradise is so close. The deep bay of Telašćica is one of the most popular hiding places for sailors on the Adriatic, as it is known for offering safe shelter even from the strongest storms. From the outside, the rocky coast consists of mighty cliffs that reach up to 180 meters high, while the rocky coast of the bay in the interior is low. In between, between the cliffs and the bay, is the salt lake Mir, which is considered a real treasure. In addition, the natural park, which became this in 1988, is known for its extremely rich fauna and flora. After seeing everything interesting, a stop at the old fishing house is a must the village of Sali, which has its own harbor and offers a great place to spend the night on a sailing boat.

Since in October a weekend trip of more than three days is usually the exception rather than the rule, we head back to Sali from Sali Biograd. And on the way back, we are already quietly thinking about where the sailing vessel will invite us next time...
