Airbnb - a new designer apartment in Situla available to tourists in Ljubljana

The colorfulness of the living space.

In the new Situla complex in the very center of Ljubljana, a new apartment is available to tourists via the Airbnb website, for the design of which Gao architects sought inspiration in Slovenian tradition.

The apartment, located in the new Situla complex in Ljubljana, was designed with the aim of renting it out through a well-known tourist website Airbnb. As a result, the main goal of the investors was to show a part of our culture and history to temporary visitors from foreign countries with the help of the apartment's equipment. Authors, Gao Architects, took the task seriously and designed an apartment in which ethnic motifs were included among the modern furniture elements, which add a real Slovenian touch to the apartment.

Elements of Slovenian tradition can also be found in the bathroom. The cabinet above the sink is printed in such a way that it resembles beehive panels and becomes a modern version of a well-known ethnological element.

The living area of the apartment is quite small, so they did not want to burden it with heavy furniture. Instead, the kitchen and sofa set were pressed against the wall, and only the dining table and chairs were placed in the room, which, due to their round shape, have a soft and unobtrusive effect. The space seems bright, colorful accents and they add freshness and playfulness. All decorative textile accessories are the work of designer Vesna Javornik. The main attraction in the room, however, is undoubtedly the print of the ceiling, which indicates the geographical position of the Situla complex and marks the main railway connections in the country and major cities. This graphic gives visitors a general sense of the space of our country and facilitates their initial orientation. The apartment also boasts large balcony, on which visitors can relax and enjoy the view.
